In our progressive society, mental illness is becoming more accepted as time passes. Even with this reality, there is still a stigma attached to individuals coping with different forms of mental illness. On the surface, I am a “normal”, “functional” adult with a stable career, a loving family, and a close group of friends, but deep down, my bipolar disorder lurks, and I live in fear of people finding out about the “real me.” This blog is dedicated to my obstacle-ridden journey of sharing my disease with the public when perception means so much to me and those with whom I share my life every day.
